The Carpe Canem group for the month of December is Maine Greyhound
Placement Service (MGPS). MGPS will receive a portion of ALL Carpe Canem
sales for the month of December 2008. If you've been waiting to buy a
custom leather collar, a sleigh bell collar, or any of the other
fantastic Carpe Canem items, do it in December and know that you're
helping MGPS.

We have a call from a lady that picked up a female white greyhound this
morning running down the street. Her left ear # is 34662 and according to
greyhound database her race name is Rosita Martinez. She is not in our
database so if you know anything could you please email me. Thanks

Do you want to prove that some Greyhounds occasionally do more than just
laze around? Do you like to see Greyhounds running for fun? If so, this
calendar is for you: http://www.cafepress.com/carpecanem.340843054
Filled with pictures of happy, lure-chasing Greyhounds (and one fuzzy
Galgo), this calendar might even inspire your own hounds to get off the
couch...or not. ;)
All of the pictures were taken during the Greyhounds of Fairhaven's
Hunting Demonstration at the 2008 Las Vegas Renaissance Festival.
Proceeds from the calendar sales will go to Greyhounds of Fairhaven to
help them continue promoting the adoption of retired racing Greyhounds.

Message-ID:
Anyone know who Zoe is? Petfinder.com lists Zoe as a male, and I couldn't get the dog to stand up when I visited but I think she's a female. The pound also contacted Aimee (owner of Grace) as they're physically similar, based on a flyer they left. Grace has been recovered, so it's not her.
Story from the pound is that Zoe is an owner surrender (23 December); she's on rabies hold, having bitten two other dogs. I don't know any more details about her back-story. When I saw her, she's a large-ish (60-some pound) all fawn hound with no clear markings. Right ear tat is probably 11A- it's pretty clear. Couldn't see left ear, and the pound wouldn't give me that information or her chip ID number.
Greyhound-data has two possible hits, assuming fawn female with RE 11A:
Lucy B (raced in Caliente, then Palm Beach, then Caliente)
http://greyhound-data.com/d?i=418537
Sapo's Lily (raced in Tucson)
http://greyhound-data.com/d?i=535452
There are plenty of other fawn girlies with RE 11A that didn't race.
If anyone knows this dog based on description or might know the back-story behind the attack, please post. She has until the 29th to get sprung, and it's not looking good for her based on the attack.

Subject: [AZgreys] Zoe- in East Maricopa County Shelter- Owner surrender
Message-ID: <6782282.1230588481236.JavaMail.root@mswamui-valley.atl.sa.earthlink.net>
Hi everyone,
It has been determined that this is a GPA-AZ placement from 2002. It is a male and he is 10 years old. We have been down to the shelter to "claim" him and he will come to us as soon as he is released.
The shelter has been very impressed with the number of calls they have received on this boy and are happy he will be taken care of.
Thanks everyone for your concern

To whom it may concern:
My husband and I have some close friends who involved in a serious car
accident on 12/26/08, near Lordsburg, NM. They were travelling with their
dog, an adult, black greyhound. He unfortunately was not wearing his collar
or tags. At the scene of the accident he ran off and we are trying to help
locate him. If you by chance recieve a dog that matches this description, we
would love to hear from you. We will travel to pick him up and reunite him
with his family. We are in the process of contacting the local shelters, as
well. Thanks for your time and attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Rachael Kristoff
