I have just helped my beloved Zorastro cross to the Rainbow Bridge.? This is the third Rescue I've lost this year... ? Zorro?was such a special boy.? Debi (from FDFF) called me a lot of years ago and asked if I would pick this guy up from his home here in Mohave County and evaluate him.? He was a turn in because he "peed on the furniture".? When I went to what should have been his forever home, he was chained up outside on a four foot chain link lead (that he had tried to chew through and which caused numerous dental problems later) with one of his ears chewed off.? He was a special needs grey as he had broke his back leg training and had been "treated" by a track vet.? ? After two weeks of "evaluating" him, I notified Debi to list me as his rightful owner as I wasn't about to let him go.? What a joy he has been.? He was one of the rare greys that really didn't need to be a "pack" guy and far prefered people.? He spent numerous nights at "slumber parties" with friends and relatives that adored him.? I always felt that he would be fine with anyone.... until I found out that he cried when I left him... then I knew that he truly loved his Mama as much as I loved him. ? His body has been rejecting his implant from his track days, and after seeing a specialist it was determined that he had far graver issues.? This was a couple of weeks ago but I wasn't ready to let him go.? After a touch-n-go week, I had to let him cross. I did tell him that I didn't expect him to be waiting for me at the bridge, as he would be far more comfy with his "people" across the bridge than the "dogs" playing.? I fully expect to find him velcroed to his Grandpa Rienaldo or Grandpa Charlie than waiting for me... ? Please celebrate this wonderful dog and rejoice in his pain free days with everyone that's crossed before him....
