The vet said his intestine had done a partial twist enough to make 8 inches of his intestine die off and there were other area's in the intestine that had also died. There was nothing that could have been done to give him a happy and joyful life so the decision was made to make him pain free. I would like to share with you about Stewart. I adopted him from Racing Home. He came to me as a foster and ended being adopted (go figure)! I felt he was so shy that he may not be suitable for an adoption family. Plus, no one could love him like I loved him. He was very shy, afraid and did not trust anyone. He knew all the escape routes and could run by you like a greased pig. He could jump when he need to jump he could fly when he needed to fly! In these last months we had finally started bonding. He allowed me to lay next to him on the couch but would not relax and kept his eyes open to plan his escape route just in case he need to get away. Then a few weeks later as I snuggled with him on the couch he finally had enough trust to rest his head on my leg, close his eyes and fall asleep. His courage continued to increase when I would wake up in the morning and we would be nose to nose. I am sure he was saying "Good morning mom you awake?" At treat time I always knew where to find him - he was the one in the back of the line waiting patiently for his turn to get something yummy. Stewart was my dancer and my singer. In the morning when I'd get up he would sing to make sure I was awake! Oh boy was I awake - he had not learned not to talk to me before I had my coffee! At meal time he would dance in three circles. Coming home from work won't be the same with that oh so shrill bark he had that rang out all excited that Mommy was home! I do have to confess he barked like a girl and I told him that often. But a mother loves their children no matter how they choose to bark! I will miss him so and another piece of my heart has been taken today. Run free my sweet boy and meet up with your brother Eric and sister Dixie - you will be greeted by many of your cousins that have left before us. Mommy loves you and is greytful for the short time our lives entwined. Until we meet again...
