Subject: [AZgreys] Greyhound in White Mountain Humane Society

I got a call last week from White Mountain Humane Society and they have had
a white female greyhound turned in because the person lost her job and has
had a baby. The dog is spayed and in good health but is not tattooed she is
5 years old. I turned it to Greyhounds of the Verde Valley and they can not
take her at this time, they felt that she would have a good chance of being
placed from there. Today I got a call from a lady named Sandy Atkins in that
area saying that she has a friend that works at the vet this lady took this
dog to and they were supposed to put it down this afternoon. I called the
Humane Society and it is true. Can anyone help us out here? She is in
Lakeside near Show Low and they guaranteed me that she is a greyhound. The
person at White Mountain Humane Society is Sarah and that phone number is
928-368-5295.

The dog in question is not a Greyhound. She looks like she's got a lot
of Labrador in her, although she could be part Grey or Whippet. Here are

Sarah at the shelter for more info on her in case anyone's interested.

I would recommend putting the information about the dog on Craigslist. A LOT of people have eyes on those ads, and if it is noted that she doesn't have long, maybe someone will spring her.

Here's the latest on Mouse:
Because of the interest in her, the shelter isn't going to put her down
immediately. She's on prednisone for a skin condition, she gets one pill
a day, and they're going to "let her live" until her meds run out. She
has 1/2 a bottle of pills left.
I talked to Sandy Akins, the vet worker who's handling Mouse's case. She
can bring Mouse to Phoenix or Tucson next Saturday if there's a home for
her.
If you have a possible home or need any other info, you can call Sandy
at 928-739-4209, or call the shelter at 928-368-5295.

You've got to be kidding?? After their last auction?? Thought that would be the last....

GALT promised me that they'll be meeting at a local UPS Store each
Saturday after the auction to make sure everything gets packed and
shipped correctly. I gotta help those poor Texas hounds - many of them
are *strays* because of all of the underground racing and the hunting
that goes on in TX.
